Based in Chicago, Fred A. Block, Inc. made costume jewelry from the 1930's to the 1950's, initially to promote and accessorize its clothing lines. Many of its rare, collectible, and increasingly expensive pieces, - especially its whimsical figural pins - are made in high-quality vermeil sterling silver with colorful enameling and large rhinestones or beads.
